Break ups are one of the hardest things to go through when you’re in love with someone. You spend all your time with them and open up to them to make yourself vulnerable. It’s hard having that person by your side all the time, then suddenly not having them anymore. That’s why breakups can feel like the end of the world sometimes. Here’s some good news: they aren’t. You will get over this hard time, but we’ve made a list on how to make it easier.
Whether you like it or not, working out does make you feel better. Exercise releases endorphins that can alleviate stress and depression. It can also give you something to be motivated by and a new sense of purpose. Get in the best shape of your life. Prepare for a marathon. Do it all.
- Retail therapy
Your bank account probably won’t like this option, but sometimes all it takes is a hot new outfit to temporarily get you out of a funk. There’s nothing like dressing up and going out to bring out your inner boss.
- Go somewhere you’ve never been
If you’re able to do so, try traveling to a city or country you’ve never been to. Being exposed to different environments and cultures can help you discover parts of you that you didn’t know were there. It’s a great way to get your mind off of the sadness you’re feeling because you’ll be too busy trying to figure out how to maneuver your way around and finding different things to do.
- Hype yourself up
Just do it. Look in the mirror and tell yourself how bomb you are. Make a list of the things you love about yourself. Do this everyday if you need to. Sometimes after a break up you forget your worth and what you love about yourself, and you just need to remind yourself.
- Learn how to do something you’ve always wanted to do
Seriously just do it. Take that dance class, start learning piano. Whatever it is, stop holding back and just do it. Not only will this give you something else to focus on but it’s something that’s sustainable and will add value to your life.
